I made another, properly sized (I think) and softer taffeta, which I washed, head scarf, for the bathing suit. And I hand hemmed it because I didn't feel like ironing the hem into place and using the machine.

Even if it's not at the ocean, I'm going to get pictures of it on soon.

I posted bathing suit and boot pictures to Instagram. My first time posting in over a month. I obviously don't spend much time there.

I might redo the scarf thing tonight. Last night I skipped my afternoon coffee and it was hot, and I ignored the signs of an upcoming headache until too late. I know better than that. Ugh. So I feel completely beat ( Read more... )

Last night I decided to redo the scarf in lighter taffeta. I thought I'd do it today, but I spent it not doing anything because my car was getting maintenance and I was waiting to pick it up, and now I'm tired and don't want to iron and machine sew. *yawn*

I machine hemmed a triangle of black silk taffeta for a bathing cap. Scarf. Something. I'm not sure it's the right size, but if it's not, I can make it smaller.

ETA: I used the same taffeta I decided was too heavy for the handmaiden dress. It's too heavy for this too...

I'm still not 100% sure I'm going to make them, but I made a first draft of the pattern for bathing shoes. Just a lot of pinning around my foot and leg. I need to sew it, and I don't think I can be sure about the fit until I make the soles. I'm going to trace the soles of my silk Regency boots.

I'm not sure I feel like doing that today though...

The second stocking is done, so the bathing costume is done!

Finish the stocking tonight. Just 34 rows and the toe!

And I think I'll need to sew the same loose stitches in the gusset again. Although after the first few rows, I twisted the stitch. I should've tried that for all the decreases, but I wanted to see what pulling it really tightly would do. And nothing shows in black wool.
